Mastawosha Award is the first Ethiopian National Journalism prize aiming to acknowledge and recognize great journalism and media that is revelatory and has real-world impact, to create competitive and well-qualified journalists, and to set an example to motivate journalists all over the country and to strengthen them in their work. About the award
The Awards were launched in 2021 with the goal of improving the quality of journalism
In Ethiopia by inspiring and recognising excellence in reporting on public affairs issues.
The awards are open to all Ethiopian journalists who are professional and competent, but
also exhibit a passion for in-depth public affairs reporting and content-based programs
which were be has an influential impact on the community. The judges look for work
which displays journalistic skill and rigor, that serves the public interest.
